Paintball Clothing and Gear
As players progress through the sport and find out what their style of paintball is, they typically start looking for the best paintball clothing and apparel for their type of playing. If you prefer the woods then you most likely are looking for a top and bottom that have neutral colors or are camo to blend in with your local fields wooded fields and if you feel you enjoy tournament paintball more you start to look for your freshest looking paintball jersey and the most comfortable pair of pants you can find. No matter which style you find yourself enjoying, Pro Edge Paintball carries a wide variety for both types of players.
Which is the best paintball jersey?
At Pro Edge Paintball we recommend to go with a light weight jersey that offers a little padding in the chest and arms. Most players enjoy the option to layer up during the winter months and remove layers as the summer gets hotter. If you start off with a very heavy duty and hot jersey then you will be stuck with this style even through the hottest times of the summer. During the winter you always have the option of throwing a hoodie on under your jersey to add some layers and keep you warm, this is very popular with players from the North as it helps with bounces too! Some of the best jerseys we have seen over the years tend to have ventilation down the sides for a little air flow during those hot days of playing. If you are worried about not having enough padding during playing then you always have the option of adding paintball arm pads under your jersey. This in our opinion gives you more options depending on the style of playing you are doing and allows you to change your gear setup based on the weather and your style. Of course you could always add a chest protector to add some additional protection and combo that with arm pads you will be fully covered from the waste up with the option to mix up which padding you go with based on the conditions you're playing in that weekend.
What size paintball jersey should you buy?
Most players come in thinking they need to look for a jersey in the same size as their shirt they wear every day. From our experience as players and while working at our store, we recommend to go one size larger than your normal shirt size. This extra room gives you more room for air flow as you will get hot at some point during your day of play. The extra room will also give you the option to add a hoodie, chest protector or arm pads under your jersey down the road. We would hate for you to get a jersey that fits great in the store but on a cold day you try to add a hoodie under it to stay warm and it won't fit. Consider the other playing conditions you could play in before deciding on the jersey size that would best fit your needs.
How to Choose Paintball Pants?
Picking the correct paintball pants is a tough choice without being able to try them on first. If you are in Houston, stop by and use our fitting rooms to find the best paintball pants for your specific size and fit. Most companies have sizing charts online so be certain to read the reviews and check out the size charts prior to buying paintball pants online. Finding the best pants is a decision between a pair of pants with a ton of padding and finding the best light weight and flexible pants that fit you the most comfortable. Over the years our favorite style of pants are the GI Sportz Glide pants which are also similar to the HK Freeline pants. Both of these styles off a light weight material that gives you flexibility while giving you padding and protection. Over ten years ago paintball pants only came with huge pads and if they were to get wet or muddy weighted 20 pounds. Now days, you have the option of flexibility, style and comfort more than ever before. If you have questions about which paintball pants might fit your budget or style the best be sure to give us a call or stop by anytime!
Paintball Headbands, Beanies and Hats
Protecting your head while playing paintball is very important. No matter if you are looking for a beanie to play in for the winter, a padded hat or a paintball head band to look good and keep the sweat out of your eyes, Pro Edge Paintball carries a full line of head wear at all times.
When looking for the best cleats to play paintball, from our experience we recommend some form of a mid top or a high top cleat. Soccer cleats tend to be some of the most comfortable and best for agility when playing paintball. HK Army makes the Shredder cleats which are very comfortable and offer a good amount of ankle support. Over the years we have tried football cleats and they offer a ton of support but they tend to be uncomfortable if you are playing on turf. Football cleats are great for rough terrain because they have better traction and are made to support your ankle more than a low top would.
